Hiring the right coach

-

Here are my top tips for hiring the right coach. As a coach one of my key priorities is the safety and well-being of my client and conducting myself within the ethical boundaries I adhere to as part of my accreditation.

Here is what to look out for:

  1. Accreditation. I am a PCC accredited coach which means I have completed over 125 hours of coach specific training and I have over 700 hours of client coaching to date
  2. Training. There are a number of providers of coach training. Check out where your perspective coach trained, for how long and what they were certified in at the end.
  3. Testimonials. These are hugely powerful and insightful so ask to speak to previous clients to hear first-hand what their experience was like working with the coach.
  4. Insurance. Check that your coach has public liability insurance. This is another indicator of how they see their responsibility to you the client.
  5. Cost. Fees vary hugely and may not be a strong indicator of their professionalism, level of accreditation or training. So start with all those important points first!
